About Fairview Room Service Menu

Fairview Room Service Menu is a clinically focused meal-ordering tool built for hospital patients who need to manage their carbohydrate intake. It guides patients through selecting meals that align with the diet their physician prescribed — from consistent-carb and low-sodium plans to clear-liquid and NPO orders — and shows the carbohydrates, calories, and key nutrients in every choice before they order.

The app is designed for two audiences. For patients, it turns a confusing hospital menu into a clear, safe, touch-friendly experience: they pick their prescribed diet, build a meal from diet-appropriate foods, and receive a unique order code to hand to the kitchen. For clinical nutrition teams and dietitians, it provides an admin dashboard to manage food items and diet plans, set exact per-serving nutrition values, and review reports on what patients are actually ordering and how well they stay within their carb targets.

It is built and maintained by Albert LaMotte for Fairview Hospital, with input from the hospital's clinical nutrition and food service teams. The tool supports — but does not replace — the guidance of a patient's physician or registered dietitian. Carb and nutrient values are approximate per standard serving and are set by a dietitian based on the actual volume served, so patients and staff can trust the numbers behind every order code.

Diet-aware ordering

Only foods that fit the patient's prescribed diet appear, with real-time carb tracking.

Order-code traceability

Every saved meal generates a unique code the kitchen uses to prepare the exact order.

Clinical oversight

Dietitians set per-serving nutrition values; admins review compliance and trends.
